There’s something special about making something out of nothing, out of a lump of clay.

It connects you to the process of designing your own mugs and artwork in a way that gives you more curiosity for what could be and the process itself.

I am Theoni Medea, a Pittsburgh based potter whose work explores change through clay in a Cone 10 reduction firing. Drawing inspiration from national politics and the natural world, I create surface designs that draw attention to the form of the vessel.

I hold an Associates in Art from the Community College of Allegheny County and have exhibited at the Robert Richard Smith Gallery. My work has been featured in The Pheonix.

Currently I am focusing on how Shino glazes and different resists interact.

I will begin studying at PennWest Edinboro in August 2026.
